READY Academy Learning Modules
About Course
The READY Academy Learning Modules are a curated collection of training materials developed as part of the READY Academy programme, a regional capacity-strengthening initiative for adolescents and young people living with and affected by HIV (AYPLHIV) across Eastern and Southern Africa.
Since 2023, the READY Academy has brought together young leaders from diverse backgrounds, including young people living with HIV, adolescent girls and young women, LGBTQI+ youth, young sex workers, and young people who use drugs, for an intensive, residential learning experience focused on strengthening leadership, advocacy, and programming skills in HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
These modules reflect a youth-centred, participatory, and practical learning approach, designed to equip participants with both knowledge and applied skills to influence policy, strengthen community responses, and drive accountability in health systems.

The learning materials span key thematic areas, including:
- HIV, SRHR, and human rights frameworks

- Leadership, accountability, and advocacy strategies
- Evidence generation and data use for decision-making
- Community engagement and movement building

About the READY Academy Approach
The READY Academy is rooted in the principle of “Doing Development Differently,” emphasizing co-creation, peer learning, and practical application. Sessions are facilitated by a diverse faculty of practitioners, youth leaders, and alumni, combining theory with real-world case studies, group work, site visits, and interactive learning methods.
A key outcome of the Academy is the development of actionable country-level concept notes, some of which are supported through seed funding to enable young leaders to translate learning into community impact.
Purpose of These Resources
These materials are shared to:
- Support continued learning beyond the Academy
- Strengthen youth-led advocacy and programming initiatives
- Enable replication of successful approaches in other contexts
- Foster collaboration across youth movements and partners
The READY Academy continues to serve as a platform for building a stronger, more connected generation of young African advocates committed to advancing health, rights, and dignity for all young people.
